How I Work

Steady, practical therapy — with room for real emotion.

People often arrive with two needs at the same time: to feel genuinely understood, and to make life function better. My style is designed for both. I’m warm and direct, I don’t rush you, and I’m not afraid of hard material — but I also care about what changes between sessions.

What you can expect

  •  Steady pacing: enough intensity to matter, not so much that you get overwhelmed or shut down.
  •  Clear collaboration: you’re not being “worked on” — we’re working together.
  •  Practical outcomes: insight is useful, but only if it helps you live differently.
  •  Respect for complexity: sometimes the “problem” is a pattern, not a single event.
  •  Consent and boundaries: I’m transparent about where we’re going and why.

Modalities I often draw from

  •  Internal Family Systems (IFS): working with inner conflict and protective strategies withoutshame.
  •  Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): building flexibility and moving toward values.
  •  Mindfulness-based grounding: staying present without being hijacked by emotion.
  •  Narrative and motivational approaches: shifting stuck stories and strengtheningfollow-through.

(The above description of my work is based on observation, not aspirational marketing. It is a plain language summary of the patterns in actual sessions. To learn more click here.)

Optional clinician-guided AI tools

I sometimes use optional AI tools to support structured reflection or to generate scenarios that help clients connect emotionally to what they already know intellectually. This is always clinician-guided, always optional, and never a substitute for the therapeutic relationship.
